Rudder options for a H16 recreational sailor

Post subject:  Rudder options for a H16 recreational sailor
I have a 1981 H-16. While sailing two weeks ago, I broke off a rudder at the waterline. At first I thought it was from a hot beach landing, however I see that other folks have snapped off rudders while sailing.

I bought two old rudders off of F-B Marketplace - they appear to be the same generation that I have on my boat currently - they both have a raised "M" marking.

Are there markings on the other rudders types listed below so I can avoid old ABS and Lexan rudders in favor of PCG and Nylon.

Note that EPO's are out of my price range.

There have been many different types of rudders. Here are the major ones from the USA:

Injection Molded:

ABS
Lexan
PCG
Nylon

Fiberglass (Hobie and Third Party):

Fiberglass Race Rudder (Hobie)
Super Rudder (3rd Party)
EPO (Black)
EPO2 (Carbon, Kevlar and White)
EPO3 (White with Carbon trailing edge)

I have the original rudders that came with my '79 H16 which I think are Lexan, but don't know that. Unless they were left outdoors in the mud for 40 years, they are pretty sturdy. I have never had an issue with them and I race it pretty hard a few times a year. Use the eBay rudders and have fun!!!

PS I just got a 2017 H16 with EPO3's. These rudders are a work of art, but take some getting used to in light wind. They seem pretty useless until you can get some good flow over them, unlike my old ones which seemed to somehow turn the boat when it looked like I was standing still. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new boat, I just need to learn it's strengths and weaknesses compared to my old, heavy, forgiving boat!

You shouldn't have a problem with older rudders. Both my '89 H14 and '85 H16 work like originally intended. They don't just break off for no reason.
I also just sail recreationally both on large lakes and open Atlantic offshore excursions for miles.
