I am a nubie. Sailing on a lake. Stopping for lunch. What is the best way to tie up to a buoy and derig? Will return to Hobie 16 after several hours to sail again. Is there a best way to partially derig or leave the sail up? Thanks |

Don’t tie it to a bouy, just drag the boat up onto the beach a few feet and point the bows into the wind. sm |

Remove the block attachments at the boom and at the jib. The boat will weathervane in the wind. Only annoyance may be the jib interference with the mast. You may want to research using quick-release ball lock pins at these attachment points (with safety keeper straps if possible). If you drop a pin or shackle in the water they're gone, and really hurts if the quick release as they are pricey. Or at least always carry plenty of spares of the standard bits. Cheers! |
