Hey Folks, I am real interested in buying a hobie to do some lake and forebay sailing. What are some of the real important things to look for when buying a used hobie 16? any help would be real helpful! thanks |

Most important thing to be aware of is soft spots on the hulls. If you can feel or hear a difference in different parts of the hulls, be careful. next would probably be quality of sails, tramps rudders and mast not necessarily in that order. Sam |

While checking the hulls, be sure to look for blistering too. Its just like it sounds, small bumps randomly around the hulls. Also make sure the seller sets up the boat for you. It's a pain in the ass, but its not uncommon to bring your new used boat home, only to find out you have to order half a dozen parts. You can drop a grand on sails as well, so be sure to unroll/fold them and look for bad stitching and/or holes. |
