Hi! I have a 1981 Hobie 16. Instead of the newer style main traveler track on the rear crossbar, it has the v-jam system to operate the traveler. I thought about replacing this system by purchasing a traveler track and riveting it onto my current rear crossbar. However, it occurred to me that I could just buy a new rear crossbar that has the traveler track built in (it's more expensive...but less work). Anyway, what I don't know is whether the rear crossbar that you can purchase at Westcoast, for example, would be compatible with my old 1981 Hobie 16. Anybody know if it would fit? Thanks! -Ben Edited to correct year |

You want to replace the entire rear crossbar because you have an old-style traveler system? Seems like a lot of work and expense. If you just want to upgrade the traveler system, you should be able to just install this kit (assuming you can find it available somewhere). https://murrays.com/products/tracker-traveler-kit sm |

I also have an '81. I recommend getting the KissMe system from Murray's, but honestly, it's a lot of money for not much performance added. If your original system works just use that until it doesn't. But if you really want an upgraded one look at what murrays has to offer! |
