Post subject:  Hobie trap handle height?

Greetings all,

I've been lurking on this site for a few months since rescuing my spiffy 1982 16' cat. ($300! complete with trailer, a 95% complete boat that had been gathering leaves and mold for 8-10 years, woo hoo!)

I'm a long time Thistle sailer, but after spending a lot of elbow grease and at least twice my purchase price on new rigging, lines, etc, I've got the hobie ready to sail I'm thrilled with my new toy. Man, what a rush compared to the Thistle. Havent even rigged the Thistle this year!

Question for you all: trapeze handle height. I've searched the archives and know the trap wire should be 16' 4", and the trap handle should be approx 32" off the rail. So, my trap wires are the proper length, but the trap handle is low, maybe 18" off the rail, and it is very awkard getting on and off the wire. What should I do? Cut and swag the trap wire so the handle is at the proper grab height? Push the handle up and put a swag higher on the handle to keep it there?

Suggestions?

Yes. The thimble should be just below the handle.
