Post subject: | WANTED: Trailer for Hobie 16 |
I'm on the lookout for a used trailer that I can purchase for a Hobie 16 I recently bought. Does anyone have any leads? I live in SW Michigan. Thanks. I can be reached at [email protected] |

Just a suggestion. I had a Sol Cat along time ago that needed a trailer. I ended up converting a power boat trailer to fit the cat. I didn't use rollers though, carpet over boards, it worked GREAT. Actually I think as far as the hulls go the added support a "bunk" trailer provides is better than rollers anyway. Used power boat trailers are everywhere (at least in these parts) and a good used one can be had for next to nothing. |

Also keep your eye out for a used double PWC trailer. Get you a couple lengths of square tubing (I used thick walled 1 1/2") and lay it across, and hit it with a welder or drill holes and bolt them down. Now all you're missing are 4 rollers and a boat! |

If you are good with a welder you can make your own for $150 or so and then get a good axle built for it, mine was $120. Along with power boat trailers, old flat bed trailers and canoe trailers work well too. Just takes a little improvising. |
