This is how the Easy Up was tied when I bought the boat. It was really hard for my son and I to right, even though we are 350 lbs combined. I think this one is cut too short to reach, but would it make any difference if it is tied to the rear rudder pin like in the diagram in the Hobbie catalog?

I thought it should be easier to right with two people, based on all I've read on this forum. Also, the guy I bought it from said he could right it by himself. He said he weighs about 230 lbs. I'm almost afraid to take it out now, as it seemed so hard to right, even with two people.

Should I buy an new longer line?

You can't determine if the righting line is the proper length from that angle. The question is: how much line is under the tramp and is there enough to allow the righting sailor(s) leverage away from the hull? Are you routing the line directly from the aft sections of the boat and around the pylons? If you are not creating excess line by bungeeing to the back of the boat between the pylons you are not going to have enough line. [/list]

Hi guys. Sorry for the delay in replying, but I've been on a couple of consuming projects for work. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply; I really appreciate it.

I've included a shot of the righting line on the underside of the tramp. As you can see it retracts to about a foot from the rear edge of the tramp.

The guy I bought the boat from said we should have it over the top hull and behind our backs. However, if we try it this way it seems way too short. We can only lean back a little way, as the line only comes out about a foot or two from the upper hull.

Based on the replies above, if I run a longer line on the outside of the shroud to the back of the hulls, I'm thinking we should be able to lean back far enough to make it a LOT easier. What do you think?

Perhaps a better question than how long the line should be is what angle the crew should be leaning when trying to right the boat? (i.e. 45%?) Also should the line be behind our backs, or should we be holding it with our hands?
