Post subject:  Flew a hull......first time!

2nd time out on the H16. Just me and the wife. We went out to a small nearby lake where the wind was not blowing very hard. The winds had been light most of the day and even for a while we barely moved. We finally made it to the larger part of the lake when the wind began blowing harder. We really picked up speed and was doing great. We had so much fun that we looped around to do it all again. The second time around a gust of wind hit and the hull came up completely out of the water. Funny part was I saw no need for the harnesses so I left them in the truck. We were leaning out as far as possible and really felt like we were about to go over. The entire time, my wife was yelling OH S***!, S***! GET US DOWN! GET US DOWN! Of course I was grinning from ear to ear. Now I can't wait to get out and do it again. My daughter was really upset that she missed out. She is an adrenaline junkie like me. I was still so excited by the time we got back to the ramp, I almost forgot to put the pin in to demast! That would have been a terrible mistake!

Sweet, man

Now just get your buddies to go out with you and then urge them to get boats too.

I am sure that we all remember that first time the hull lifted. Don't worry it will only continue to get better. As you get better at flying the hull you can keep it up longer and longer....that sounds horrible.

I remember the first time I flew a hull. I was out with a buddy in good wind and we flew around the lake all day. I was so beat after sailing that I went straight to bed. Even though I was dead tired it took me awile to get to sleep because every time I closed my eyes I felt the sensation of the hull leaving the surface of the water. Kind of like the first time on a roller coaster. Completely awesome.
