I am looking for a diagram that shows how and where to attach righting lines to a older 16. Obviously I am new to this and the written instructions have not shown me the way. Thank`s Patrick |

Admiral, Thank`s for the timely reply and the good info.I am looking at the catalog now.I have new line and was thinking of making my own but was wondering about the length.Is this doable or is the shock cord the only way to go ?How and where do the lines attach to the stern ?Do you have to drill holes and install cleats ? You didn't say which style you want to go with. If it's the Hawaiian (my favorite) the line required is about 40 feet. You can get a more exact measurement by measuring from the center of the rear crossbar, around the front pylon and back to the stern, double it and add in two feet for knots. I attached mine through holes drilled in the lip. Place the hole inboard of the rudder in the stern lip. |

My righting line is an old main sheet cut to size. It it stored by wrapping one end around one pylon, then passed around the dolphin striker, and wrapped around the other pylon (I don't have tramp pockets in which to store it). When I need the line for righting, I unwrap the end that is in the water, toss it over the high hull and start leaning. The Hawaiian righting system is great since it saves time if you're racing, but if you're cheap then the above system will work well, too. |

Skipshot, Thank`s for the reply.You said the magic word " cheap ". Being a old power boater I have not been around a lot of Hobies but I have seen your system in pictures.I will give it a try.Would there be any advantage adding a line to the rear pylons for a mate to use ? Best regards, Patrick |
