Post subject: | Re-conneting shrouds/stay and traps to mast?? |
Hi, Im getting ready to hit the water hopefully this weekend after a year of restoring my H16. I took all the cables off the mast tang months ago as I was working on the comtip etc and now need to know where to re attach all the cables. I have the usual (2 shrouds, 1 stay and 4 traps) the mast tang has two attachment holes. Can anyone tell me how and where are these attached? Pics/diagrams? thanks! |

The bottom hole on your tang is for shrouds and forestay. You can put the trap wires on there, but it's a bit of a squeeze with 4 trap wires. People usually use the top hole from trap wires. Be sure to use seizing wire to tie of the pin in the 5/16 in tang shackle. I use a dab of blue Loctite on the trap shackle. I didn't find any good pics in a quick search. Brian C |

The traps go on the top. Shackle pin thorugh the top hole and hoop of the shackle passes through the large hole between the two smaller ones. Trap wires hang to either side of the tang. |
