Just went out yesterday on my "new to me" boat everything ran good and had the boat on some SCREAMING reaches, good to go. Then I decided to show off a bit and show my lady what flying a hull is all about. so there I go out to about 100 yrds off the beach good wind and set it up to fly as soon as the hull started to come up the leeward bow would dig in so I spilled the jib a bit to no avail? what gives I am thinking? on my old boat I had the same mast rake as I do on this boat and easing up on the jib sheet always did the trick, not on this boat. so I ask is my jib possibly rigged to low? George |

The tack of the jib should be pinned as low as possible. On a reach it's hard to depower. Slide your weight back as far as you can, and use the main to depower. |

Thanks man!! I pinned it lower yesterday and it was fine, the other day I was sitting on the windward rear corner casting and my crew was right next to me it had the tendency to want to pitch poll, then when I pinned it lower yesterday it seemed to make it alot better. But still had the pitch poll tendency but not as bad, I wonder if it has to do with tramp frame flex? I retied the tramp to make it tighter, but the frame still has flex to it. Maybe this winter I will take and shim the frame out and re-rivet everthing. thanks for the help. George |
