Hi,, I need to order a set of jib and main battens for my H16. I have gone into several dealer web sites and they state that H16 battens have to be cut to lenght, since they are made from lightly longer batten stock. Race legal and all they stated the battens are Hobie battens not aftermarket or generic, and have the same part # as in the hobie catalog. Is this true? I inquired and they dont seem to know to what exact lenght they sould be cut. Anyone? |

You could buy a h16 jib batten set in the past, I just noticed they no longer have a part number next to it. You would then need to order the proper length and cut them. The stock lengths are: #4 30" #3 45 3/4" #2 57 7/8" #1 68 7/8" As everyone knows these are to long, you would need to custom fit them for your jib. |

That was the case for me. I ordered a replacement set of jib battens and cut them myself. The universal battens are located towards the front of the parts catalog. I assume that is the standard stock length. The correct jib batten lengths are shown in the back of the catalog in the H-16 specific area next to the rest of the jib rigging hardware. I would think that the main batten lengths are in the same place. |

Hobie used to make battens for each model in different colors. The 14's battens were green; the 16's, blue; the 17's, black; the 18's were yellow. There was no difference between them other than the color. Each batten was cut to a specific length for each model's sail. That makes for a lot of different lengths (over 30). Someone (probably Matt M.) had a brilliant idea - make one color batten and standardize the sizes down to about 8. Most of us trim our battens down to fit the sail anyway, so this made things much simpler for Hobie Cat. |

I just got conformation from the parts department at Hobie, that is still a valid part number, in stock at Hobie Cat. |
