Post subject: | Broken Jib Hank |
Hey folks, I broke the hank on my jib about 3 sailing sessions ago. Am I slowing myself down by not replacing it, or is it just a convenience so that the sail doesn't blow out to the side while hoisting. It seems like a moot piece of equipment as soon as I tighten the halyard. What do you think? |

I've never been able to get the jib set right w/o the hank. The head always wants to blow out. |

You are right, the only function is to keep the sail forward as you raisen or lower it. It does help on a windy day. |
