Post subject: | Removable Baby Bob? |
I just purchased a "Baby Bob" mast float for my 1983 H16 with comp tip. If I mount it per the supplied instuctions, it is not easily removable for towing or for the days I do not want to sail with it. Also, I am not comfortable with relpacing the pulley rivit with a screw. Has anyone ever modified the mount to allow for quick install or removal while rigging the cat? |

I don't know why you would want to remove it. I just put mine on and forgot about it. If I were install/remove like you want to, I would consider some type of bracket that always stays mounted to the masthead and then mount and dimount from that. |

I put one on my comp tip and just leave it on all the time.. I think I just drilled one hole and then put a piece of wood under it that takes up the space between the top of the comp tip and the mounting bracket for the bob.. If I want to remove it then its one one bolt.. Works Fine Hope that helps |

You could just un screw the bob from the mount bracket. its 4 screws, I have some people do this that are worried about the weight of the bob while trailering. |

I trailer with the Bob On, It doesn't weigh that much from what I can tell.. I dont worry about tying a red flag on the back of the mast with it on.. |

I agree that the weight isn't a big deal, however some people make everything harder than need be! |
