Post subject:  How do you heat weld a tramp?

I'm considering trying my hand at making a black mesh trampoline for my hobie 16 out of some old...well, trampoline material. And I was wondering if anyone knew how involved the heat welding process is. Any info would be awesome. Thanks!

Post subject:  Difficult... to say the least

We have a couple of very special and very big machines and guys with eons of experience to make it work. To create enough heat and not melt or burn the tramp material is science and art. One machine is for a process that allows long continuous welds. It is a heat blower. It injects high heat between the layers of material as they are drawn into a set of rollers that mush the heated layers together. The other machine is called a sonic welder... actually VERY high voltage is run through blocks of aluminum that have been placed on the machines table pinning layers of material together.

Stitching will be WAY easier, but as you know... it just doesn't last as long or look as good as the welding.
