Post subject: | Jib battens? |
Newby question! I bought super jib set battens. How far should they stick out past the jib? They stick out 4" Past the jib and it seams like that will be too far. How would the jib get around the mast? Do I need to trim them? I also don't know how to tie them with only one hole and no notch. Please help. |

Hey wow first Hobie sailor from Saskatchewan I have seen post here, besides myself. Where are you from and where do you sail?? As far as the battens are concerned you should cut them as short as possible to keep them from hanging up when you tack. I left mine out about 1" when I had then tensioned how I wanted them, that still leaves you some adjustment later if you need. |

I'm from Fiske. About 11/2 hour west of saskatoon. I have always wanted a hobie, but have no clue how to sail one. I wish I could find a local to help walk me through it. Do you know of any 16' around that could help? I would like to sail at the landing and black strap. Were do you sail? |

Trim them so they stick out about one inch after the batten is tensioned. Release after every sail so the sail doesn't stretch. |
