Post subject:  Hobie serial number

Hi,

I bought a Hobie 16 this fall. For registration (it had not been registered by the previous owner) I need the serial number. The hulls need a work so I removed the paint on one to show the serial number. The problem is I cannot match it with the number system on the Hobie website.

Here are pictures of the serial number:

"CCM" is a legit prefix and it looks like the right number of characters. Why do you think it's not matching the FAQ?

That's the serial number.

It's a '73 and one of the first to have the serial number on the transom. The system was a little different back then.

CCM L 1849 0173

If I interpret it right, it was #1849, built in the first production month (01) of the 1973 model year - probably August of 1972.

Thank you for the expertise!

The last 4 digits did not make sense to me at first because I was trying to make them describe the month built (letter), year built, and model year.

Now I know in '73 they only described month and year.

JP
