Post subject:  Comp-Tip Repair

I am relatively new to the sailing scene, and I trailered my H16 from Arkansas to South Carolina. I guess due to the 1000 miles of bouncing, the comp-tip has bounced loose. It is still connected, but it is very very loose and quite a bit of play in it. Can anyone please give me some advice on how to remedy this problem. Thank you very much.

There is a thread located on the FAQ page discussing this issue: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1178

The primary issue with you is that, assuming nothing is broken, you will need to re-epoxy the comp tip to your mast extrusion. West Systems epoxy is good and some people use Marine Tex.

Thanks a lot. I plan to tackle that today.

Yep, it sounds like the glue has let go.

Also, the comptip on my old boat was installed in the late 80's and is still solid after thousands of miles of trailering, so your one trip was not the issue- it was ready to come loose either way.
