Post subject:  hobie "Bob" help

I picked up a new hobie "Bob" for my !6'. I have an old mast with a single sheave. It looks to me like the screws would go in to the sheave. Has anyone had a problem with this?

I know there is a way to do it. When I got mine there were instructions on how to do comp tip and non comp tip. I have a comp tip and the instructions are long gone. I would call Murrays Marine and see if they could fax you a copy. They faxed me on on a item I was going to be putting on the boat but wanted to be sure it was going to work.

Nice of them for sure! :D

Why call Murray's when Hobie manufactured it? Call your local AUTHORIZED Hobie dealer, they should be able to help.

Here's a link to the installation PDF files. Click on 'Product support'. Scroll down to 'All Models' 'Accessories':

Download the appropriate PDF for your float.

Anyway, there should be 4 short screws with the kit along with the long ones. The longer screws are for the comptip H16 masthead. You'll use the shorter screws and tap into the aluminum mast head. Make sure to coat the screws with blue locktite so if you ever need to get them out again you can, and take care to not hit the sheave when you drill.

Have fun!
