Hey gang.....my first post here. Friend of mine purchased a 88 H16...we're in the process of getting the boat ready to go, and we're not sure about the halyard routing in the blocks. His boat has the original halyard, and mine came with the Aussie Halyard so I'm not familar with the stock jib halyard. Been all over the Hobie parts catalogs, assembly manual, they don't show the line routing anywhere. Where can I find a decent diagram of this? Thanks! :?

Go to Products/Hobie Sailing/Parts & Accessories on this website. Select the Part Guides section of the Catalog sections and you should find what you need on page 9 (page 50 of the complete catalog).

Thanks for the response, but that page just shows the line routing for the Aussie Halyard, and shows the stock halyard but not how its set up....Thanks anyway! :)

Sorry, I don't have photos. The wire end of the jib halyard should have a small block on it about even with the boom when the jib is 98% hoisted. If not, get one (Downhaul Block, part #11070000), but you can still sail without it until you do. In the Hobie 16 Parts Guide you will find a diagram showing the downhaul block with the line (rope) jib halyard tied to the lower becket and then routed around the sheave, forming a loop. This loop is put around the sheave on cheek block on the mast and tightened, then tied off on the mast cleat.

It's on page 18 of the assembly manual. Just to help you visualize what Skipshot is saying.

In this picture, the excess halyard line is stuffed between the cleat and the jib downhaul block. That's where all of the mess is coming from.
