I've patched my soft spots, but remain unhappy with them. I've been browsing craigslist and Ebay for newer hulls, but only seem to find early 80's Hulls. This still leaves me with hulls that aren't much better than I started off with. I've replaced near every thing else on the boat, so I might as well find some hulls, even if they're mis matched. Beats finding an entire boat and trying to part mine out. Does anyone know how one would go about tracking down early 90's Hulls? Early 90's hulls would be new enough for me, I just never see any for sale. You'd think there would be wrecked boats that people were parting out. |

Reasonably cared for early 80's hulls are a good bet for a recreational boat, and they are the most plentiful. Not saying 1980 and on hulls can't develop soft spots, but seems that problem was more prevalant in 1979 and earlier models. Specifically the '80 thru '83 boats I've been exposed to are built like tanks ![]() |

Finding matching "newer" hulls is kinda like finding Nemo w/o a happy ending. |

Do they really have to match? As long as I find two white ones, I can peel the vinyl decals off and they should match close enough? My uncles own a body shop and have painted and restored corvettes, so I figure they should be able to handle painting my hulls. It's a trailer sailer that will never see the beach or sand, so the paint should hold up. I can't believe that no one is pumping out aftermarket hulls for them, I know there are plenty of companies making aftermarket replacement autobody parts. But then again AMC went under a long time ago, so 4wd Hardware can get away with selling fiberglass replacement jeep bodies. |

More importantly, do they have to be the same weight? If I have an 80 hull and an 88 for example, is the weight difference going to mess me up ? |
