Post subject:  mast rake vs crew weight

I know this topic has been beat to death but i've read all the other posts and numerous tuning guides and i'm getting conflicting info. Could someone please help? My crew weight is 350, i usually sail in moderate air and choppy to glassy conditions. I have an 80 H16 with older sails and new rigging. Should i be using max or min mast rake and if i use max rake should i pin my jib tack as high as i can get it-possibly adding another chainplate. Thanks for any info that helps me get to a good starting point for finer tuning. Brian

I don't think they had adjustable rudder castings in 80, so the weather helm will get pretty bad when you rake it more.

I've found on my 79 that the weather helm is near unbearable with max rake.

I wholly third that notion. My '76 pulls horribly when I have it raked back.
