Post subject:  Problems raising SAIL

When raising goes up fine until it gets to the comp. tip then it's sticks. I have tried sail lube with no real success. Any ideas?

Have you tried forcing the sail up the track near the boom when your getting up that last little bit of sail? I usually place my hands on either side of the sail with my hand together, kind of like the yoga thing, like praying hands, and push the sail up before I try that last little bit. I put all my weight on the halyard and pull with all you've got.

Read my sail hoist FAQ:

Aside from possible issues with the track itself... it is quite common to have the sail bind as it reaches this point in the mast, Comp Tip or not. It has to do with the luff curve sewn into the sail shape and the straight mast track. If you simply yank on the halyard without properly feeding at the bottom... it will bind as the halyard tension causes the luff to curve and bind in the track. Less halyard tension and more feeding at the track opening is typically the trick. You have to force the sail up the track... not simply guide it into the opening.

It seems that this problem has worked its self out. after having the boat out about 6 times the sail is hoisting much easier. Sail lube seems to be the answer. Thanks to all
