Post subject:  Hobie16 - US vs. European Boats

Hey everyone,

Just picked up a 2001 European boat in the US. I know "one design" is supposed to mean we all have the same boats, but I have noticed the follwing differences in the two boats

1. No comptip - everyone knows why
2. Integrated main traveller track, but not for jib
3. Shorter tiller cross bar and differently shaped tiller arms (bent in)
4. Carbon fiber rudders - or as they say in Europe...Carbon Fibre :)
5. OLD style mast stepping system (actually worked fairly well...first time I have ever tried that in 4 Hobies I have owned)
6. holes in Hobie tramp (with grommets) either for trap wires or to tie off jib traveller adjuster lines

Any other differences that people know about that I should be aware of? I plan on replacing the standing rigging as I don't know how old current the rigging is - so any differences there don't really matter. Anything people know about that are preferred/not preferred over current US designs?

Thanks!
