I bought a 2017 Outback brand new. at about 2 years the 180 drive destroyed the bottom roller bearing.
Hobie fixed it for free. then this week I found the teeth on the drive are missing and sent it to my Hobie dealer to see what can be done.
SO the question I have is there a better 180 drive out now?
Does the Kick up drive STILL have these problems?

the 180 drive is a game changer for fishing but I and not happy to pay 400$ every two years to get the drive fixed.

Have your dealer file a warranty claim. Warranty can reduce the cost of the spine assembly. Not sure why teeth would fail. Bearings are being modified, so should be better by now.

Who is the dealer? We typically will extend the warranty on the 180 spine.

My spline gears went in June and my dealer is still waiting for parts. @mmiller- is the parts situation going to clear up anytime soon? Or, will MD180s with KU fins be available to retrofit soon?

MD 180 spine? They have always been in stock. No shortage. Check again with your dealer.

Thanks. I've been waiting since June- can the gears be replaced inside? I thought those were the parts I was waiting for.

Whatever is needed, I'm always told parts are an backorder due to the supply chain.

If it's the whole spine assembly that's needed, I would rather switch to the Kickup drive to help keep from having issues with hidden obstructions. Are these available yet to retrofit?

The dealer says they are waiting on a Pulley Shaft to complete the repair- is that part on back order?

I think that's it. I'm so frustrated- I missed half the summer/fall last year, and looks like spring this year.
