For those of you who chose the Outback over the Compass for fishing, why did you select the Outback?

I started with the Compass, added a PA14 and then the 2019 Outback. I no longer have the Compass, which was a great rig, but I really love the Outback. Take the best features of the Compass and the PA, roll them into one rig, you then have the Outback. Everything is easily accessible, it is much lighter than the PA, more stable than the Compass, fast and turns on a dime.

Interesting. I've been looking at all three boats and keep circling back to the Outback. I'm relatively new to both kayaking and fishing, but have come to love both. I just came out of a Native Ultimate FX12. Got tired of paddling, but liked the minimalist nature of the boat, therefore my initial interest in the Compass. I thought I would fly fish out of my Native, but I was never comfortable standing in it. The PA looks like a great platform for standing - especially with an H-bar - but its size and weight make me pause. The new Outback looks great and I sat in one last week at my local dealer. It felt a little tight to me compared to the PA, but I guess anything feels tight compared to a PA. The Compass also interests me because I'll likely get one for my wife and the ability to stack two of them for storage is appealing.

A few questions for you regarding your Outback:

How comfortable is the seat?
How difficult is it to get to a standing position?
How comfortable is it to stand and fish once you are there?
Do you have an H-bar on your boat?
Anything about your PA that you particularly miss?
What is it about the Outback that makes it feel more stable than the Compass?

Thanks!

I am equally curious regarding the stability of the Outback verses the Compass.

Thanks

Gary

Had a Compass, now new Outback.

Problem with the compass is the same than PA 12, it rolls on the first 15° angle... :(

Would you say that the Outback has better secondary or primary stability?

based on my testing, alone and with my 80# dog on board, I have concluded that the new Outback 'fights' to stay upright...secondary stability is outstanding.
