I'm an owner of a 2021 Outback after getting out of the offshore fishing game. LOVING it! This isn't an Outback specific question but regarding the set screws on the Mirage drive with Kick Up fins. The nylon r plastic set screws are starting to strip. Is there a good reason not to replace them with readily available stainless ones? I'm having a problem finding the OEM ones locally. Thanks in advance! |

The set screw is designed as a wear part. If you replace it with a stainless steel screw the mast link is going to wear instead. That is significantly more expensive to replace. Once the mast link is worn down and no longer catches on the set screw your kick-up function will no longer work properly. |
