Post subject:  Winch loading system on 2020 Outback

Hello all,

I'm looking for ideas on where to attach a single rope leading to a hook on my side manual loading winch system.

Was thinking of running a simple strap on both front and back H-Rails but just not sure if it'll hold well in the long term.

Picture for illustrative purposes.

I like the concept. I think with a single line the hull will pivot around the centerpoint unless you have a large V in where it connects to the hull. The limit of the V will be the width of the roof off your vehicle.

I suggest a slight modification and have two lines wrap around the same winch. With the Winch in the orientation you show, parallel to the vehicle and perpendicular to the boat, you would need a turning block for the line, so just put a second turning block, so you have one forward and one aft, and with both lines attached to the hull and then up through the turning blocks and wrapped around the same winch, then the pull would be even on each line and you could just put two simple loops around the hull. if the winch has a ratchet, you could even then use each line as a tie down mechanism for the hull with out much additional effort.
