Florida Registration of kayaks. I have been trying to register my Outback that I bought used as I am putting a trolling motor on it. Hobie refuses to send me one as I am not the original owner and only a dealer could reguest it. I have talked to several dealers and they all said the same thing. If I didn't buy it new from them they will not get one for me. I brought my "Bill of Sale" to the tag agency but they wouldn't accept it saying they need more proof. Florida statute 328.48(b) states" For the purpose of registration, the owner may establish proof of ownership of the vessel by submitting with his/her application an executed bill of sale, a builder's contract, a manufacturers certificate of origin, or federal marine document, or any other document acceptable to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor vehicles and presented at the time of registration to the agency issuing the registration certificate". Can anyone give me help mor insight to resolve this? Until then I guess I will be a criminal. Thanks |

Try a different county tax collector office. I find the smaller less busy ones out in the boonies are much more agreeable. Peter |
