Is there a reason that the Lynx and Passport drive wells were made too small for the Hobie Evolve Torqeedo motor?

I have been using the the Evolve V1 with my Lynx. The drive well is a bit tight so sliding the motor in and out is a bit tricky. It doesn't drop in striaght, you have to angle the Evolve forward, and use the prop alignment tool before removal.

I have a Lynx and I do agree with you regarding the mirage drive wells are smaller than for example my tandem island. However when I purchased my Tandem Island I also purchased the Hobie Torqeedo Evolve motor and was set up to operate in the mirage drive. When I purchased the Lynx this year I tried installing the Hobie Torpedo Evolve motor in the Lynx mirage drive. After trying some different approaches to get the Lynx mirage drive to accept the Hobie Torpedo Evolve motor with no modifications from the configuration for the Tandem Island, I was able to get the motor in the Lynx mirage drive well. It takes some twisting and turning but it will fit once you find the proper angle to install it. It however, should not be as hard as they have made it to be.

Hope the explanation helps.

Yea I was just wondering if it's some new direction Hobie is going in with the newer smaller drive wells on 2024+ editions of the Outback/Compass/other models and our Hobie Evolve motors will no longer be compatible.
