Has anyone used this mount of a 17? Will trolling motor work? Outboards are expensive ![]() I have a dock that is hard to get out of for Wed. night races depending on the wind direction. Are there any other mounts available? Doug |

Post subject: | Cheata motor mount |
I have a Cheata that I just removed from a Sport I recently purchased. It was centered on the back cross bar (would prefer to be on the forward cross bar. The previous owner used a minkota trolling motor. If interested let me know. It is in excellent conditon and I will not be using it. |

Motors on small cats? Where's the respect for tradition!? Whatever happened to lying out on the bow/foredeck and paddling like a surfboard, while barely controlling the tiller with a combination of knee and toes, and perhaps some jury-rig involving bungees? I ask you, is this not the Tao of the Cat-man? ![]() ![]() OTOH, I'm sure that someone out there has mounted a propane grill on a cat 18' or smaller, LOL! |

Post subject: | Paddle |
ReefOne: After checking out the price of Cheata and motor I am just going to get a 2 piece kayak paddle for around $30. Use a piece of bungee cord with hook for the tiller and sit on the bows and paddle. I have a small dock basin I have to get out of fro the Wed, night races. Depending on how the wind blows I need some help getting in and out. OH and what about a wooden tramp up front for a hot tub? (LOL LOL) Doug Snell Hobie 17 www.tcdyc.com |

Post subject: | PITA |
Caleb: It is not that I can't get back in. It is just PITA !!!! It takes me about 12-15 tacks the way the wind normally blows to get back in to the Dock. Fun races, but a real PITA without a motor. A few times a couple in an inflatable have towed me in. Doug |
