has anyone amanged to fit one of these on a H17? did you need much work on it? Ive been offered one in good condition and my existing H17 main is not good!

I'll watch this thread with interest... It seems as if the Tiger mains are about the only good used sails in surplus these days...

The length of the whole sail is probably a few feet too long... but I suspect the foot will be to long as well meaning a re-shape of the sail... I'm sure as long as you start out with enough material you can whittle it down to the correct size...

I am interested in this also for my SX 18, which is supposed to be a very close match

Remember the Tiger has some pretty good mast pre-bend. Pre-bend is do-able with an 18 with diamond wires and spreaders, but a 17 with no way to pre-bend the mast will make the sail shape, more than likely, never work quite right.

Yes, the H-17 sail delam-delema! I'm in the same boat!

A Tiger's sail is not suitable for the 17 - at least not without substantial modifications.

In addition to being the wrong dimensions, the Tiger's sail is made for a mast with diamond wires, whereas the 17's mast does not have them (bend characteristics are much different).

The halyard / sail hook is completely different, too.

a sailmaker who is a big F18 sailor has had a look for me it would end up costing 75% of the price of a new one so not really much saving and to be honest he wasnt that convinced he could do a good job of it its the bend as you say I may still try it!
