Don't believe that there were '84 and '85 H-17's. I had one of the first ones in Texas, and it was an '86. Brian C |

Hobie 17s came out in 1985. No comparison to the Hobie 18 issues at the time. The boats were made light, with 6 oz glass. We have since made many changes to beef it up. 8 oz glass, reinforcements around the wing tubes... There was nothing wrong with the early 17s, but you have to care for them a bit more than the typical Hobie. The changes were more to make them handle abuse than because of any problems. |
