Post subject: | H17 transport on the roof of a car. |
Hi all, I`m used to move my old H14 on top of my car (decontructed) And would do so with my H17. The H17 has some more lenght en weight but with a third roofbar it would stay in the max load on the roof as much weight would be transferred on the rear bar that rests on the towing hook. ![]() Rest me with only a mast with 8,5 meters.. My H14 has a 2 piece mast, and there are H16 with 2 piece mast also the wave has a standard 2 piece mast. So I want to cut the mast in two (diagonal like the H14) and insert a aluminium profile witch glued a rivitted on one side. Would this be a constructive problem ? Most forces go straight down.. |

From a guy who used to put a Hobie 16 on the roof of an Oldsmobile: This is far too much work - and a 2-piece 17 mast is ridiculous. You're looking at hours of set-up / take down time. Why not just get a trailer? |

Ours of setup time. good point. Normaly, my H17 is on shore in a harbour. No need for a (car)trailer. Once a year in the summer we go on vacation to France and leave the cat om the beach for 2/3 weeks. No need for a expensive trailer when i`m only making this 12 our journey once a year. I rmoved the comtip and the mast is only 5,5 meters now. Short enough for on the roof. |
