Just stoked to be getting a Hobie 17 in a couple of days.
Sight unseen I sent the money based on a phone call and a couple of emails.
I live right on the water at St Margaret's Bay NS so I'll be blasting around most days this summer
Awesome way to keep going fast (now that I've retired)

I hope you didn't buy from a guy named Bill in Illinois/Indiana. He's running some scam on a Hobie 17. He's very knowledgeable hobie guy too. I almost got caught in it, but my wife found all his unscrupulous/illegal history on ripoffreport.com and elsewhere. I was rife for a takedown, I wanted that boat so bad. -Scow

We're in the same boat, so to speak..90% solid on a H17 sport deal in a couple weeks. Retiring this year. Too bad you're about a 1400 mile sail from Ohio, that would take awhile, even on a Hobie. Keep us posted, I'll chime in when I get mine!- Hank

Got it home yesterday and is seems to be in remarkably good shape and is complete as far as I can tell sofar.
Next step is to build a ramp along side the house. I was intending to use the mooring out in front of the house but nobody on these forums will second that motion and it makes good sense around here too because forsure it would be plunging constantly at the mooring.
This a bay of the Atlantic, we have 5-7 ft tides and looks like a 30 degree angle from low tide to the top of the bank using 16ft timber so I think I'll make two 16ft ramps with pvc as the rungs, .What spacing for the rungs do you suppose?
I have ordered an immersion suit which should be here next week cuz the water temp is 35 degrees at the moment lol
tks
Bruce
