After nearly getting scammed off e-bay, I actually scored a 17 sport an hour from home on C-list. Pretty scary because dude insisted on cash, so, after some research, I did the deal in the Police parking lot (at his suggestion). Question: How likely is the sport to turtle in a capsize? My home waters of lake erie off cleveland don't get deeper than 25' till a mile or so offshore, so most sailing will be in peril of a turtle. Should I get a mast bobby, or is the comp tip bouyant enough? Also, it seems a mast bobby would add weight and make it harder to right solo?--scow |

It won't typically turtle quickly, so if you can get the mast upwind and / or hang on the righting line... you can prevent it. |

Make sure and check your mast for leaks. I found out just how quickly a 18 will turtle will a leaky comptip. It's as simple as submerging the mast and looking for bubbles. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk |
