I don't race, I am a thrill 'wind snob' sailor. I like the affordablity of the h17. Charleston Harbor gets choppy and the h17 boggs down sometimes. The h17 takes abuse. Is the Fx1 built robustly or mainly for weight concerns? The design looks simpler. I have read it is more buoyant. As far as Chop piercing is this true? Where can I get a used one and what is the market?
Any thougths would be much 'preciated.
Thanks y'all

In my opiniion the FX is built pretty tuff. Alot of the parts are the same as on my Tiger. Cross beams, rudders, daggers, and most of the rigging.

It may even be abit over done. But I am happy with the durrability.

As far as running in the chop, it goes quite well. We did a distance race on the Columbia River that was about 25 miles, and the waves can stack up there.
Durring this race i was impressed with the performance.

I hope to race more with the Tiger fleet this year to see how it does.

You will love this boat. Good luck.

The bows will power through waves until the front beam hits hard. That's about all that slows it down in big chop. It is alot faster than a H17 even with out the spinnaker. I love mine.
