Post subject:  How Replace mast ball?

Hey,

My mast ball (black ball the mast rests on) is significantly dented in a couple of locations. I'd like to replace it. I can't tell if I can just buy the ball and somehow replace the one I've got or do I need a new dolphin striker as well? Or something else? Has anyone replaced this part or know how to do it? Would love some advice.

Thanks,
Adam

The ball and striker post are both threaded, so it just screws down onto the post. You may need a large set of plyers or possibly a pipe wrench (strap-type) to take the old ball off. You should be able to buy just the ball from your Hobie dealer.

Make sure the ball gets seated on the post all the way. If the post doesn't seat on the roof of the ball all the way the threads will be taking the weight of the mast and it could strip out the ball. That's really the only thing to watch out for, it's pretty easy.
