Post subject: | HC 14 Turbo. Old HIN Number Format? |
Hello, I just recently became the owner of a HC 14 Turbo. I am working on getting it registered so I can get out and play on Lake Michigan (On a calm day!). I have been reading the forms a lot in the last few weeks and I have not been able to find anything exactly like this subject. Sorry if I am going over a FAQ topic again! I am having some trouble with the HIN. I looked at the section in the FAQ and could not make any sense of my number since it ended in a 'G". Following the link from the FAQ it looks like maybe my boat uses an old numbering system, but even using that system I am not sure I am reading the number correctly. Does this make sense?: My Number: CCMC1172M82G From this page: http://www.hobiecat.com/support/warrant ... erial.html Sample Serial Number "CCMP8281M81G-A1" Built in "M" Model Year "81" 1981 "G" Production Month (A=August, B=September...) February 1981 "A-1" Second Quality. I don't understand the following 1. Why is the -A1 missing? 2. Why does my number have a CCMC and not CCMP for the old format? 3. How does the "G" in the example give February for the Month? I don't care too much about when the boat was made except for getting all the right numbers and details right for the registration. Thanks for any help you can give me! Scott. |

No "A1" - first quality (no blems). The "C" in the CCMC is the boat model. Depending on how many were made in a year, 14's could have either an "A" or a "C". Production month: A - August B - September C - October D - November E - December F- January G - February |

Now that I look at the Month again that was a dumb question! I read it (incorrectly) as January=A several times. Thank you for the help, MBounds! |

Factory says A=January these days. |

When did that change, MM? I know the A=August applies to the 80's boats. I had an '84 16 that I picked up in December of '83 (serial was M84C) and an '89 Nationals boat that had an M90A number. |

Not sure when that was changed, but as of the change in format to current CCMX 1234 X 232 format I would bet. |
