Post subject:  Removing boom end cap

Hi

I want to remove the boom end cap, mast end. But it seems to be stuck fast, despite drilling out the rivets. Any suggestion in how to remove it?

Cheers

Large blade screw driver or punch inserted in the luff track... against a ridge of the casting and hammer out. The get bound up by salt or corrosion.

I can't do that, because at the mast end, the cap is flush to the boom extrusion, and does not extend up to the track. Its a bit of an issue.

I still think you can get a bite of the cap using a blade driver or punch. Just get an angle on it and WACK it.

OK, hammering did not work. So I tied the boom to a tree, put a loop of rope though the gooseneck fitting on the end cap, which connected to the tow ball on the car and drove off. With a loud noise, out came the end cap.

Good work! The tree and your fender ok? I can picture recoil and SMACK!
