Ok, new Hobie 14 owner here. Bought an older 1985 Hobie that had been in a barn for some time. Been cleaning it up and replacing cables and line and basically getting everything ship shape. A few parts were missing but I quickly found them on the parts list and ordered them. However I have one thing that is baffling me and I can't find a good diagram online to figure it out.

When I attach the boom to the mast it slides into a channel on the mast, I assume some sort of pin goes through there to hold it in place but none was with it and I can't find anything on the parts list that looks correct or any really good diagrams of connecting the boom to make sure I'm not missing anything. Any help appreciated.

The part that slides up and down is called the gooseneck.

It's supposed to slide. That's how you adjust the tension on the front (luff) of the sail. Less tension, fuller sail for lighter air and power; more tension for a flatter sail in heavy air.
