Post subject:  Attaching/detaching hulls.
Hi i have a older hobie that i brought homa and im painting it but to get it into my basement i had to take the two hulls off and im wondering how hard they should be to pull off thehulls from the (chassis)????

Shoudn't be too hard to remove the tramp frame, unless the previous owner glued the boat together.

Take everything off - rudders, trampoline, mast - everything. Put the boat on the ground, either in grass, or padded with carpet.

Remove the four bolts on the pylons.

Using a dead-blow hammer or a rubber mallet, start with the rear crossbar - it should come off fairly easily. When it's off, slide out the sidebars.

Then work on the front crossbar. If it's stubborn, it helps to have a buddy "wiggle" the hull while you bang on it with the hammer.

Whatever you do, DO NOT HIT A CASTING OR THE FRAME WITH A METAL HAMMER. You'll break a casting and dent the frame.

ok yah thanks becuase i saw that they were glued when we got them off and the left one just slid off easily but the right back was hard... we had to wiggle and pull really hard... and also do you know if the hulls should be a bit lose when the tramp is not on??

Trampoline gives the boat a lot of its stiffness, so, yeah - the boat will be very loose without it.
