Post subject: | Two pieces mast weights |
Hi friends, I suspect that the previous owner of my Hobie 14 has repaired its mast and now it weights more. It's a two pieces mast of an old European HC 14. I find it heavy to raise the mast and we need to be two people to right from a capsize. Also the lower piece's balance point is not on its half (it's about 2/3 nearer to the junction). I think it has been repaired because of suspicion rivets near the junction and alluminium is broken for about 2 or 3 inches, again near the junction. My question is about the exact weight of a healty/new two pieces mast, mine are the following: Piece Weight [Kg] [Pounds] Mast lower half 8.6 18.96 Mast upper half 5.1 11.24 Mast total 13.7 30.20 If anyone knows or has time to weight theirs it would be useful for me to compare. Thanks in advance, Fabio |

Hi Max, Thanks for your offer to weight the mast for me. I am contacting you off-line as you proposed. I'll post data about weights as soon as you let me know, for anyone's else interest. Thanks, Fabio |
