Excuse me it is wrong. Minimum allowed by IHCA is 240 lbs., probably due to Turbo option.

Matt, Dan or Chris can answer better than I.

240# is the IHCA minimum weight, but most boats weigh significantly more. At the 2004 North Americans, the boats weighed from 242 - 297#.

Chris Wessels nicknamed his boat "Cinderblock" after he found out how much it weighed

In my experience, only boats made in 1984-85 in the US come close to the minimum. Maybe the European boats do these days, but they are way too expensive to import. I got my '85 (248 lbs) with a trailer for $1,000. It's tough to beat that for value.

Yes, thats right. My little girl is a bit on the heavy side, which is really a shame since she has such a pretty face.
Again, if you never blow a tack on your 14, make all the right decisions and have your boat tuned perfectly, a few pounds of weight won't kill you. Just don't race Matt for money. He's an awesome sailor, has a light boat and doesn't weight very much either.
Me on the other hand, SUPER heavy boat, I suck, and tip the scale at near 200ie. In the beforementioned National in NY, the weigh in guys were LAUGHING at my boat.
Most of the boats I have seen in our division are in the 260lb range. We have a new 14 in our divison, a '93 a guy picked up that had never been used (bought it from the Navy), anyway, I think he said it came in right at legal.
