That is why I didn't use Ricks. We tried it and the trammp wouldn't let bar go up high enough. Had to send it back

Hi Has anyone got a righting pole on their 14. I'm thinking about getting the Power Righting system for my H14 Turbo. Any advice or pics of 14s with righting poles? Thanks |

I think it would be cheaper to just go to KFC a couple times a week for a month, and you'll have no trouble righting a 14. |

My daughter talked me into KFC last night. The original sandwich is good. A few more of those and I could out weigh the boat. Chris: If you need any budget help with your event let me know. After the Tiger mess you need to be careful. In short: Control the entire budget yourself, don't be told what you have to do and by no means, plan an expense you don't have gauranteed money for. |

Good advice and WAAAAYYY ahead of you. Fixed cost breakeven is like 8 boats. Any boats over that will cover themselves by a longshot. Thanks again and I hope this Tiger deal gets worked out. There is a 'right thing to do' regarding that, but you don't want to set a bad (disasterous) precedant. |

Pat, I put a pole on my P18.2 and it worked out pretty well. If you have a factory dolphin striker that looks like the 16 one, you can easily make a system. OK, get yourself another 14 boom--16 if your kid is super light. Get a Hobie 18 gooseneck p/n 60710000, the bracket that attaches to the mast. The bracket is spread open so that it will fit on the mast, so put it in a vise and sqeeze it almost shut. You then slide it over the dolphin striker and screw a few small screws through the rivet holes to clamp it to the striker post. Take off the gooseneck slide on your boom and attach it directly to the H18 bracket now on your post. Pretty clean install. I attached a bungee from one side of the tramp (under the boat) to the other at the rear beam to hold the boom up out of the water. I found that it helped to keep it from clanging into the bottom of the beam if I blued on some indoor/outdoor carpet (like you would use on the rails) to the bottom of the beam. OK, for the righting part. Get 2 pieces of line and tie each to the front corner castings. tie the other ends to a carribiner. The length of the lines should make the carribiner about a foot short of reaching the block hanger on the boom. This way, when you are on your side, you can take the carribiner and attach it to the block hanger and the pole will stick up instead of straight back. This gives you even more leverage. I actually used an old H18 aluminum spinnaker pole on my 18.2 and took advantage of the tack line that ran inside the pole. I put another carribiner at the end of the line and had it come out of the pole near where it attached to the gooseneck. That way, I could attach a water bag to the tack line and stand on the bottom hull and just pull the line in so the waterbag would go to the end of the pole. That gave me a ton of extra righting weight!! Confused?? Call me. I like the KFC thing, too. When you are done eating the chicken, you can use the bucket as a righting bucket!! |

I have a few ideas on how to make an unattached version that you could weave in your center lacing. I currently store my paddle there so I am used to a bar in the middle of the tramp. |
