Hey guys, after seeing footstraps on the stern of the cats in multiple places, I was just wondering what is the best place to put them, and the best method. I was browsing an article on here about adding them to the lip of the deck, and then another about having one on the rear crossbars. What do you guys think? Thanks. |

I think the deck lip aft of the rear crossbar. If you need a foot strap you will be traping well aft. One foot on the rail and the other aft of the rear crossbar. |

Yea, but if you have your foot on the back of the hull. won't it drag in the water? |

well my problem is that even with the mast raked back, my hulls seem tto be very prone to pitchpoling. as much as I like flips, they dont seem to be to good for the integrity of the boat. and i know im probably doing something wrong, but i figured id just move my weight back farther |

Well... it is a Hobie 14 and the bows are small. You can try to avoid a pitch opole in a number of ways. Mast Rake aft, weight aft, Control the power by sheeting out in puffs, use the traveler... travel down in windy conditions. The bows are short and the rig is powerful. The foot strap in the rail should be no problem. If you are using it, you would be powered up and not in the water dragging your foot, except between puffs! |
