I basically asked what I wanted in the subject line. If so, does anyone want to get rid of a jib for the 14 for cheap? oh...and also a dolphin striker and the trapeze? |

Dont forget jib blocks, the wire that goes underneth the tramp, there is also a stainless steel piece that is rivited onto the side rail that you attatch the sidestay to (I don't know the name of this part) but its different for the turbo, because you're running the support wire across under the tramp and attatching it to these fittings. Also, a furler, new bridle wires, forestay and upper forstay with swivel. Oh yea, you need a turbo tramp too with the grommets to run the jib cars through. [email protected] probably has everything you need to set this up, maybe even a spare jib. |

thanks, I know I have the turbo tramp, but I will have to look closer at the rest to decide what exactly I need. so that email address is a contact for parts? |

Yea, its a guy in VA BCH who has tons of used Hobie 14/16 parts. He can help, plus he may have a kit you can use to make a std. 14 a turbo. |

And lets not forget the Dolphin striker. The last thing we need is another Hobie 14 sold on ebay as a Turbo version because it has a jib. And the unsuspecting buyer picks it up and wrecks the boat (and himself!) trying to trapeze it! A new Dolphin striker kit sold on ebay recently for $50, but it is a rare item. Better chance of finding a front crossbar from dissassembled H14t. Good luck. I love my H14t! |

Gosh, my ears were burning for a reason! I have converted several boats and I have several different set-ups. The dolphin striker is a real big part of the kit but you should really have it on a 14 uni as well. If you plan on trapeezing (and you should!) you will HAVE to have it. Hobie sells an add-on dolphin striker for like a hundred bucks. 6 rivets and it is in--very easy install and worth every penny. Ahem...as the 'used parts guy'...I have some used ones for $50. The cheapest way to convert your 14 to Turbo is to get good used Hobie 16 rigging and cut it down. You start getting expensive when you start talking about furlers. You can make the jib block support wire and you can get the jib blocks pretty cheap on eBay. One of these days, I need to finish my 14 turbo conversion document. |

I have the dolphin striker (made the thread before I picked up the boat, so the striker was on it already), I have the blocks, and the right tramp, and even the supporting wire that runs under it. All I seem to need is the jib and the rigging for it...and the trapeze wires...a price tag on that? (used) |

I just bought one, used, off Ebay for $51 + $10 shipping, from hobiemill_llc. He/she seems to sell a tone of Hobie parts. It was the first one I have ever seen on there and is in excellent condition. I am certainly not complaining about the price. |

well depends on if it shows up on eBay. one sold a little while back for 150. then you add on 100 or so for the bridles wires, swivel with pigtail, two trap wires, handles, line, furler, jib sheet, two clew blocks. i mean, people get rid of stuff for a lot cheaper than that, but its rare to see that kinda stuff going around individually. if you really want a turbo id say invest in buying a used 14turbo, pick and choose everything you want, and sell what you got left. i did that with my 14 to a 14t and basically only kept a mainsail, rigging, and tramp from the original boat. and i actually came out dead even with what i paid total. (plus ive still got the boat and trailer). |
