Post subject: | Loose rivots on sidebar for shroud |
On my Hobie 14 the shroud adjusters attach to a curved plate that is attached to the port or starboard sidebar using 3 rivots. The rivots are beginning to become loose and I'm afraid under a strong wind the shroud will seperate from the sidebar causing a mast collapse. Any ideas? |

I wouldn't take any chances with something that can cause demasting. But are they becoming loose as in you can move them in and out, or are they able to move side to side. If in and out, just drill out the rivets and replace them for like 65 cents each plus the cost of the rivet gun. If side to side, I have no comments other than to replace the rails entirely. \ I think Jaime or someone has pics of one of those safety wires that attaches to an anchor on the hull lips like on 16s, just in case. |

The rivots are loose in an in and out sense. The boat is 1987, so I assume they are just beginning to fail because of the shroud tension. I'll replace them this weekend! |
