Picked up a set of spare sails from an '82 turbo that I picked up for parts, wondering if they can be repaired... The jib has a tear along the leech plate, see pic...can this be fixed? It is a back up, so it doesn't have to be pretty: ![]() The rivets have popped out of the leech plate on the main, but everything around the leech looks in tact...can it be re-riveted? ![]() And finally there is one tear of about 4 or 5 inches in the middle of one of the batten pockets...what's the best fix? ![]() Thanks for the input, if the sails can be salvaged it's icing on the cake, all of the other parts on the boat were excellent. This is a 5 batten main with a 40xxx sail number, only about 300 numbers lower than my 6 batten main from the same year. |

#1 - yes it can be fixed, but you're going to end up with a new clew plate. May not be worth the cost. #2 - easy fix (by a sailmaker - you probably don't have the tools to do it properly). #3 - easy fix, although matching colors will be a problem. Get coated shrouds if you don't have them already. |
