Interesting to see few boats with mast rotation arms
sidestays on the side rails, and those on the deck lips
bridles on the deck, some on the lip, ala H16

The newer boats built by Hobie Cat Europe have sidestays on the deck lips and bridles on the bows like the 16s. Structurally, it's a better arrangement.

Bridles, yes (have done it on my boat when the bolts stripped out of the deck).
Shrouds, no.

From the 14 class rules:
Quote:
4.1 Shroud chain plates may be shifted a maximum
of 1 in. (25.4 mm) fore or aft when attached to
the trampoline sidebar. For boats/hulls manufactured
in 2007 and onwards shrouds chain
plates may attach to the hull in a fixed position if
originally manufactured so by the HOBIE CAT
COMPANY.

Man, the factory fresh boats look light, tight, and fast!

Does the rear crossbar have the 16 style integrated traveler setup?

It would be cool to charter a new factory boat at a worlds regatta. Surely they charter these things...right?

Yes absolutely they had brand new factory provided charter boats there. Charter boats were being sold on site right afterwards by the local dealer. New Hobie 14's are built very much like new 16's. 35 Hobie 14's from all over the world at a BYOB event very impressive. I believe we are seeing a revival of the 14 class.

From the presidents report following the 2015 worlds:

"One fleet of note was the Hobie 14. I was quite impressed with the number of competitors on the Hobie 14. This mirrors a similar resurgence in North America, where at a recent East Coast regatta, the 14s outnumbered the 16s. The conclusion is that the boat continues to be interesting to racers."
